RoboCam™ RC-1-BW Module

Utilizing the VISION VV5300 "Camera on a chip" CMOS Image Sensor, the RoboCam camera board is perfect for developers, educators and experimenters interested in CMOS image sensor operation and applications.  OEM's and manufacturers can also take advantage of the RC-1 module for low or medium volume products.

 

RoboCam RC-1 is a low cost digital camera module suitable for evaluation, research or OEM use.  Applications include industrial automation, security, robotics and machine vision tasks. The module is composed of Vision's VV5300 monochrome CMOS image sensor.  This sensor automatically adjusts it's exposure and gain settings based upon the scene, thus simplifying processing requirements of the host system.

The VV5300 imager supports B/W images up to 164x124 in size and frame rates up to 60 frames per second.  The module supports 1, 4, and 8 bits/ pixel data formats as well as 4 or 8 bit conversion.   RoboCam includes a 3.6mm focal length lens and lensmount assembly.  Other lenses are supported via the standard 12mm x .5mm CCD lens mount assembly.  By altering the lens focal length, different fields of view are possible.

The RoboCam digital camera module supports a 20 pin .100" ribbon cable connector which brings all pertinent VV5300 signals out.   The module mounts easily using 4 stand-offs.

Back side of the basic RoboCam board unit. RoboCam interfaces via a 20 pin .100 ribbon cable connector.    The board is powered by as little as 35 ma at 9-12 volts.  Long life tantalum caps and resistors are used throughout.

 

Here's a side view of the RoboCam camera module.  The use of industry standard CCD lens allows many different fields of view depending on the application.
